Zardari Instructs Party Leaders: Form Alliances with All Except PTI

Alliances

PESHAWAR: Former President Asif Ali Zardari met with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leaders on Sunday, directing them to strategize for the upcoming general elections, including forming alliances with political parties.

Zardari specified that alliances should be pursued with all parties except the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The former president stayed at the Governor House in KP for security reasons and met with Governor Haji Ghulam Ali.

Various leaders, including those from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), PPP ticket holders, and workers, called on Zardari. PPP senior leaders ruled out an election alliance with the PTI in KP, emphasizing discussions on candidate credentials in their meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, former Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi, Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha, and Rubina Khalid attended the PPP KP parliamentary board meeting. Zardari’s visit was denied to be related to internal party issues by PPP leader Ziaullah Afridi, who clarified it was for a personal event.

Former Federal Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi rejoined the PPP after meeting Zardari, accompanied by religious scholar Ahmed Saeed Kazmi. PML-Q leader Chaudhry Salik Hussain affirmed their party’s independence in electoral pursuits, denying seat adjustment talks with PML-N and emphasizing their strong position in various districts.

Salik Hussain dismissed rumors about a political discussion during a recent meeting of the Sharif brothers, clarifying it was a casual gathering without political discussions. He highlighted the PML-Q’s commitment to contest independently, identifying strong candidates and expressing confidence in the scheduled elections.
