WhatsApp Enhances User Experience with New Status Updates Header Layout and Seamless Sharing Shortcuts

As instant messaging platforms continually enhance their user interfaces based on user feedback, WhatsApp is in the process of refining its status updates header layout.

This development was uncovered by WABInfo in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.26.13 update, accessible on the Google Play Store.

For select beta testers, the update introduces two new buttons on the status updates header—a camera button and pencil icons. These options serve as convenient shortcuts, enabling users to effortlessly share images, videos, GIFs, and text as status updates.

This revised arrangement aims to enhance the overall user experience, offering a more user-friendly approach to sharing a variety of content, aligning with a contemporary interface.

Previously, the platform had two floating buttons for content sharing. However, with the advent of channels, the layout became somewhat convoluted. The latest update, featuring integrated camera and pencil icons, establishes a more cohesive layout for an improved user experience.

It’s worth noting that some users may encounter a different layout, with these shortcuts listed within the “three-dots” option.

Netflix Unveils Extensive Viewing Data For The First Time

Meanwhile, Netflix made a groundbreaking move by publishing detailed viewership figures for thousands of its shows and movies, providing an unprecedented look into the performance of its content. This shift, outlined in the “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report,” is a significant departure from the company’s traditional practice of closely guarding its data.

The report, slated to be released biannually, includes a comprehensive spreadsheet with data on shows watched for over 50,000 hours, covering 18,000 titles and representing 99 percent of all viewing on Netflix during the first half of 2023.

Among the notable successes highlighted in the report, the US action-thriller “The Night Agent” emerged as the top performer, garnering over 812 million hours watched globally. Other popular titles mentioned include “Wednesday,” “You,” and the “Bridgerton” spin-off series “Queen Charlotte.” Interestingly, non-English language shows, particularly those in Korean and Spanish, were well-represented, constituting 30 percent of all viewing.
