UNITED NATIONS: During a UN Security Council open debate on the threat posed by small arms and light weapons, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Usman Jadoon, raised concerns about the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) acquiring modern weaponry for terrorist attacks.

He emphasized the need for a UN panel to investigate how TTP obtains sophisticated weapons, pointing to the potential involvement of illicit arms markets or entities seeking to destabilize specific regions. Ambassador Jadoon stressed that preventing the illicit trade, transfer, and diversion of these arms is a collective responsibility of states and the UN.

Additionally, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, called for the establishment of a special tribunal and accountability mechanism to investigate Israel’s alleged war crimes against Palestinians. This demand was made at an Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly on the Situation in Palestine.

These diplomatic initiatives underscore Pakistan’s proactive engagement on the global stage, where the country is addressing critical issues and advocating for justice, accountability, and lasting peace in regions marred by conflict.

Ambassador Jadoon’s call for a UN probe into TTP’s weaponry sources reflects Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and security, emphasizing the importance of preventing the misuse of advanced arms by terrorists and criminals.

In the context of the Israel-Palestine situation, Pakistan’s demand for a special tribunal highlights its dedication to promoting justice and accountability for alleged war crimes, contributing to international efforts to address conflicts and uphold human rights. These diplomatic efforts showcase Pakistan’s role as an active participant in discussions on pressing global issues, working collaboratively with the international community to address security challenges and promote a more peaceful world.
