Drugs sale in universities in Punjab: Police busts a notorious narco-sellers gang

In Lahore, the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Punjab Police successfully carried out an operation resulting in the apprehension of a notorious drug gang operating within educational institutions across the city.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) reported that the anti-narcotic cell executed the operation in Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, leading to the arrest of five gang members, including two females, who were allegedly engaged in drug activities within educational establishments.

The arrested individuals were identified as Shahroz, Shamila, Rafat Bibi, Muhammad Akbar, and Muhammad Afzal.

The police revealed that the suspects faced charges in multiple drug cases, and a significant quantity of Hashish and Heroin, valued in the millions, was confiscated from their possession.

In a related incident from June of this year, the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) thwarted a drug smuggling attempt by apprehending an individual who had swallowed capsules filled with drugs at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

The ANF, in collaboration with the Airports Security Force (ASF), initiated a nationwide operation against drug trafficking.

A spokesperson stated that four capsules containing hashish were recovered from the stomach of the accused at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport during the course of the operation.

100th years of Turkiye celebrated in Pakistan

Meanwhile, academicians, diplomats, politicians, artists, and journalists gathered in Pakistan’s commercial capital Karachi to celebrate 100 years of the Republic of Turkiye.

Organized by the Pakistan Print and Electronic Media Foundation (PPEMF) and the Culture Department of southern Sindh province on Saturday evening, a colorful ceremony was attended by a large number of people, including students from different universities.

Among the attendees were Sindh Culture Minister Syed Junaid Ali Shah, Turkish Consul General in Karachi Cemal Sangu, diplomats of China, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Oman and other countries, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency’s Karachi coordinator Halil Ibrahim Barsan, and Home Secretary Sindh Iqbal Memon.

Addressing the ceremony, Shah congratulated the people of Türkiye on the 100th anniversary of the republic, highlighting the “deep-rooted” religious, and cultural ties between Turkiye and Pakistan.

Sangu, in his remarks, noted that the two nations have always stood by each other in every testing moment, whether it was last year’s unprecedented floods in Pakistan or the massive earthquakes in Turkiye in February.
